Our Team are ready to welcome you to our fabulous space and will ensure that your Little One enjoys learning and playing at Small Friends as much as we all love working here! 

Each of us is fully qualified having achieved either a Certificate lll or Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care, or Teaching degrees, and our years of experience and passion for working in the world of education is what makes Small Friends an awesome place to learn and play!  

We all love our chosen careers as Educators and being part of the Small Friends village. Our passion and enthusiasm is at the heart of every day making sure our Small Friends grow to become confident Little People not only at school, but in life!

Our Owner & Director

My name is Katelyn, and I am the proud O)wner and Director of Small Friends. As a local member of this wonderful community, I live here with my husband, Darren, our children, Madison and Hudson, and our beloved dog, Nala.

My journey in Early Years Education and Care began nearly 10 years ago, inspired by my own experience as a parent and a deep appreciation for how crucial the first six years of a child’s life are. I am incredibly passionate about high-quality early education, play-based learning, and the magic of nature play.

My connection with Small Friends started in 2021 when I joined as an Educator, and from the moment I stepped through its doors, I knew this place was something truly special. Small Friends is more than just a child care space, it’s a warm, welcoming house where childhood is cherished, and learning happens through play, curiosity, and exploration.

Since its beginnings in 1996, Small Friends has remained a place where children can be children, and I feel so privileged to continue that legacy. I am deeply grateful to those who built this incredible space before me, shaping it into the nurturing environment it is today.

I am currently studying for my Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, and I have a genuine love for learning about child development. One of my greatest joys is observing children at play, seeing their creativity, problem-solving, and growth unfold in the most natural and meaningful ways.
